Be Your Own Guru, a 1971 book by Sri Surath (Ranney Publications), argues that modern convenience has failed.
What was supposed to have alleviated humanity's day-to-day burdens has left us no less anxious.
Considering that in 1971 (fifty years ago!) we’re talking about the modern convenience of office coffee machines and automatic garage door openers, what would Surath think today?
Has the Facebook notification bell led to bliss?
Surath's book also states that the spiritual masters of old, for whatever reason, have fled for the mountains. They have abandoned humanity, leaving us no choice but to enlighten ourselves.
Maybe that's just the way of things.
The way of the Force.
Well, if Sri Surath was right, if Yoda has indeed left the building, here are five reasons you need to train YOURSELF in the ways of the Force:
1. Religion has abandoned us.
The North American population has all but deserted the social practice of attending church on Sunday.
Even if motivated more by neighborhood expectation than by spiritual yearning, a once-a-week lecture on saintly morality was probably better than nothing.
However, what happened during COVID is unforgettable—and unforgivable.
Faith leaders didn’t just abandon their parishioners by locking their doors, wilting to the demands of corrupt governments everywhere. Many faith leaders actually used scripture to guilt-trip their flocks into getting a pharmaceutical injection, which they knew nothing about.
You realize how pedestrian your local pastor is when he knows everything about evil—two thousand years ago! And NOTHING about the evil that walks among us here and now.
Preachers, shamans, and love-and-light experts everywhere revealed their blind faith in media and government authority. And thereby forfeited the public’s trust.
And if asked to do it all again?…they would.
And don't tell me they didn't accept the money to be "influencers!”
2. A new dark-side religion is rising.
"Experts" is the name of today's religious priesthood.
The religion?... is called SCIENTISM.
Scientism is faith-based. It’s got nothing to do with science. The phrase “follow the science” is Scientism in a nutshell.
Despite efforts to brainwash us, science is a METHOD—not a (pretend) consensus. It is a method for testing theories.
In other words, “Experts say…” has nothing to do with science. And everything to do with authoritarian control.
And if you haven’t noticed, the new Inquisition has already started.
How many doctors were stripped of their right to practice or faced expulsion from their medical licensing boards during the COVID scam?
In other words, Scientism is burning heretics in plain sight.
Whenever an oppressive religion rises to power, whenever the shroud of the dark side has fallen, we must look to the light within ourselves.
It is up to YOU now.
It is up to the divine, creative spark that is your birthright to light your way through the modern forest of deceit.
Integrity is everything.
You'll need the Force as your ally if you are to refuse the future demands of this tyrannical, rising ideology.
3. Intellect doesn't cut it.
The Gnostics had it right.
True wisdom—what the Gnostics called gnosis—comes only from a direct relationship with the divine source.
It is not enough to read a book about it.
You have to swim within the vast ocean of your highest self.
Meditation is my go-to.
But prayer, gardening, grounding (Earthing), contemplation—there are many paths to Heaven. And the more paths, the better.
But the path that matters most is the path you practice every day. And every day means no slacking off.
Practice makes perfect.
The knowledge that permeates your being during meditation (or gardening, or prayer, etc.) is not thinking.
It is KNOWING—knowledge without the need for words.
Thinking is a beautiful thing. But it tends to lead to more thinking. Then over-thinking. Then stress.
The shocking wake-up call of the COVID era has been called the Great Awakening.
But this awakening has led to hyper-vigilance—a temptation to fixate on the every and latest moves of Klaus Schwab and Bill Gates.
Yeah, the dark side loves it when we succumb to over-vigilance.
It would much rather you fixate on the latest maneuvers of the corrupt World Health Organization at the expense of your daily breath work.
Gnosis, through regular spiritual practice, is a better way to stay TRULY informed.
4. You might discover the unseen path.
Meditation has an almost immediate calming effect—a general reduction in anxiety.
But something else occurs.
Something unexpected.
Like the parting of the Red Sea, meditation has the strange effect of sweeping aside the shrubbery of the path ahead. The road forward becomes less overgrown. Easier to follow.
It’s as if the act of spiritual practice invokes the participation of life itself.
Life begins to help in subtle ways.
But something else—something interesting—also occurs.
What if I told you that regular meditation (or gardening, or prayer, or contemplation by the lake) actually creates a NEW path? A path otherwise unseen?
A parallel road that seems less cluttered by the ordinary storms of life. The same direction, but where are all the potholes?
The only way to prove me wrong is to try it.
5. Maybe you hadn't noticed...but you already ARE your own guru.
Your body grew itself from a single cell. Right?
But what science calls genetics, I believe, is something far more incredible.
In my worldview, you already are your own spiritual master.
And the miracle of your body is proof positive.
A fundamental tenet of Scientism, the rising dark religion I mentioned earlier, is that according to its priesthood (the experts that say), if you don't follow their ever-evolving health guidance, you die.
Obey the ritual of the week—six feet apart, plexiglass between everything, wash your hands—or perish. You see, only their external experts can protect you from the dangers of the world outside yourself.
Wrong!
And the intention is obvious: diminish faith in the magic of yourself.
The body heals itself!
Every second of every day!
Always.
And you don't even have to think about it for it to work!
Genetics is a clumsy, mechanical, and overly convenient (and robotic) explanation for what nature manifests a million ways, nonstop, daily.
It is your consciousness that is the key to the car of your own body.
Without the participation of your spirit or consciousness, your body is dust in the wind. Literally.
To get this far in life, wherever you find yourself now, has required a million miracles. Physical miracles! Mental miracles! Emotional handstands!
And the fact that you are even reading this article tells me you have a yearning for wisdom.
You have asked, as they say—and you have ALREADY received. A million times over.
You ARE your own guru.
Because that’s how life works.
You can't get from one place to the next—or even one day to the next—without the miraculous connection that you already have to something greater than just little you.
My humble advice is that you recognize this.
Recognize it. And make better use of it.
Practice!
Makes perfect.
